Somewhere in the MiddleDate Added: July 9, 2002
E-mail chain letters give a lot a credence to the theory that numbers aren't random and apparent patterns and symmetry must have some significance. Such is the case with the "Center of the Bible" theory. Too bad the numbers don't add up. I FOUND THIS PRETTY AMAZING. AFTER ALL THE BIBLE SAYS THAT IN THE END KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE INCREASED, THIS HAS BEEN IN THE BIBLE SINCE THE BEGINNING YET NOT UNTIL RECENTLY HAS IT BEEN REVEALED. READ ON YOU'LL FIND IT INTERESTING. AND MAY I ADD THAT WITHIN EVERY BIBLE SEPARATING THE NEW TESTAMENT FROM THE OLD YOU WILL FIND A BLANK PAGE, THIS PAGE REPRESENTS 400 YEARS (BETTER KNOW AS THE DARK AGES) Even if you are not religious, you should read this. It is very interesting. What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
What is the longest chapter in the Bible?
Which chapter is in the center of the Bible?
Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118 Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118 Add these numbers up and you get 1188 What is the center verse in the Bible?
Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives? The next time someone says they would like to find God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the center of His will, just send them to the center of His Word! Psalms 118:8 (NKJV) "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)? Before sending this, I said a prayer for you. You got a minute? 60 seconds for God? All you do, is simply say a small prayer for the person who sent you this. "Father God bless _________ in whatever it is that you know he/she may be needing this day! And may __________ life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with You. Amen" Then send it on to five other people. Within hours five people have prayed for you, and you caused a multitude of people to pray to God for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life for doing the thing that you know he loves. Faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it. According to independent research, the King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible contains 1189 chapters; Psalm 117 is the 595th; there are 594 chapters before Psalm 117, and 594 after it. Thus, it is 117, not 118, that is the center chapter of the bible. The KJV has an even number of verses (31,102) and, thus, does not have a single middle verse. The "middle verses" are Psalm 103:1-2, with 15,550 verses before and after. Psalms 103: 1 & 2:
There are small variations in the number of verses from one Bible version to another. The order of the books in the Bible was not settled until the 4th century; the Hebrew Old Testament puts the books in a different order than that used by Christians; and the division into chapters and verses was done between the 13th and 16th centuries. The e-mail does get two things correct: Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible, and Psalm 119 the longest. Other than that, it just doesn't add up. Break this Chain. References: None |
