Fish StoriesDate Added: Sept. 10, 2005
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which left New Orleans and other parts of the U.S. Gulf Coast region in shambles, there has been much criticism of whether officials (both in the affected states and in Washington D.C.) did enough to prevent disaster and then lead effective rescue efforts. But does this photo really depict President Bush and his father delivering the ultimate insult by fishing in the flood waters? Picture: ....and they say he doesn't care ...Come on!!!!!
Most people recommend this photo for the political hack job it is. When I first saw it, I was immediately reminded of the myth of Nero fiddling while Rome burned. This is not a photo of President George W. Bush and his father, Former President George H.W. Bush, proudly displaying a fish they pulled from the flood waters in New Orleans. Rather, it is an unrelated photo, dating back as far as 2003, of the two men on a fishing expedition, superimposed on a news image of Hurricane Katrina survivors.
